Riding the Rails – Toronto to Ottawa and an itinerary update

Hi everyone, just a quick one today.

So this stretch of rail travel is slightly different, let me fill you in with my astonishing Canadian rail knowledge. So the passenger rail company that goes across Canada is called Via rail, the freight company is CN. The stretch of rail between Vancouver and Toronto, and Jasper to Prince Rupert is owned by CN so the freight trains have priority, hence lots of waiting on freight. This stretch, also called The Corridor, is owned by Via, meaning passenger trains get priority and we actually arrived early into Ottawa! There’s also wifi, so I could live tweet a train journey at sometime if anyone was interested. It does mean that we speed past the views and photos may be less…. so there’s just two for this stretch, but they show how blue the water is and how much I love brutalist structures.

In other news… here’s a quick update on the next section of travel

  1. I’m catching up on your travels! Cuba was so interesting, particularly in terms of meeting local people, learning Spanish, and understanding the politics (trying to). I’m writing up my experiences today. Love you and yes, dark days and bed rest… I think everybody must need em right? Take car of yourself xxx
